With the production of compost, CNC, apart from straw and gypsum, processes large quantities of horse manure and liquid chicken manure. This means an important contribution to the processing of the manure surplus in the Netherlands. Fresh compost has been produced in Milsbeek for over thirty years. Because this process took place in the open air, this was accompanied with the emission of ammonia and odorous substances. After years of research and testing in its own testing factory CNC has developed a production process in which high-quality compost is produced entirely indoors. Ammonia and odorous substances are almost completely removed from the process air by using advanced techniques. With the use of a fully automated process 'indoor' a high-quality compost is produced. The environment is the big winner in this way of composting. For this, CNC Grondstoffen B.V. was awarded the Tuinbouwondernemersprijs (Horticultural entrepreneur prize) in 1996.
