Spawnable compost

The production of spawnable compost on the basis of IVC® takes place in Milsbeek and Moerdijk. After the IVC® has been supplied, it is mixed and stored for a short period of time. After filling in a tunnel the IVC® is subjected to a conditioning and pasteurising sweating-out process of 5 to 6 days. The temperature in the compost rises to around 58˚ Centigrade during this process. Any waste air is cleaned by means of ammonia washers. Next, the largest part of the spawnable compost is used for CNC’s own production of full-grown compost. A small part is sold to growers who grow other mushrooms than white and chestnut mushrooms: for example field mushroom or oyster mushroom and the wood blewit. Delivery of spawnable compost to third parties cannot always be carried out just like that because of contamination with our own spawn. Therefore this has to be included in our own production process before the production of full-grown compost is started in our own company.

Delivery:

  • Spawnable compost is transported by our own, closed trucks. Before delivery, the compost is cooled in order to warrant a controlled process at the client’s.
  •  Filling of spawnable compost is possible with a filling machine (Simultaneous Filling and Covering (Gelijktijdig Vullen en Afdekken). Filling of several bed widths, from 1.31 to 1.41 metres, is no problem.
  • Our drivers observe strict hygiene regulations to keep the risk of contamination with undesired moulds or bacteria to a minimum.
